Restoring friendship with God and with people: a Bible study

God reminds me every time I ask about why there is so much destruction in the Old Testament: "After destruction of cities comes hope." People were evil. That was why Jesus came and sacrificed Himself. The people had lust in their eyes, they were rapists, they were murderers. Cain killed Abel. They did witchcraft and sorcery. It's all wrong. God punishes them, and then He forgives them, and restores them to Him. After Zephaniah prophecies about destruction, God promises through Zephaniah, "Then I will purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord and serve Him shoulder to shoulder." (Zephaniah 3:9) This basically mean that God gives people goodness. Zephaniah also writes, "But i will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant if Israel will trust in the name of the Lord." (Zephaniah 3:12) Meek means quiet, gentle, and submissive. It means being willing to obey God with an overflowing fountain of Love. God also says, "...and no one will make them afraid." (Zephaniah 13b). God is a Warrior. He constantly promises us that we have no need to be afraid. He says, "Do not be afraid, for I will save you." In the New Testament, He promises eternal life. He always has. I was born before 0, in heaven. I'm safe and sound. What does eternal mean? It means without end. God is eternal. He wants us to be like Him (not to "be" Him): good. Loving. Ask, "What would Jesus do?" every day. Pray when you wake up in the morning, thanking Him, pray at night, be constantly in prayer.

In the New Testament, Jesus writes through Mathew, "Do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: you do not support the root, but the root supports you." (Romans 11:18) God restores us to Himself, and restores our friendship with all the people we miss that we will meet again. Yahweh says, "I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery" (Romans 11:25a). God has no secrets. He wants us to be enlightened about His Eternal Truth.
In Mathew 10, God says that He calls sinners to repentance. When you repent, pray, "Dear Lord Jesus, I'm sorry..." (pause and reflect and FEEL the repentance in your heart. Repentance means turning away from your sin and choosing to change) and then say, "I love you. Please help me be the person You made me to be. I repent. I love you. In Jesus's name I pray, Amen." Amen doesn't mean goodbye. It means "God's Will be done, so be it."
In Ecclesiastes, a prophet writes, "...Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgement, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil." (Ecclesiastes 12:13b-14) Atheists and devil worshipers think they can hide from God and live forever on Earth, but they are wrong. Heaven is a million times better than Earth. God loves everyone, and He Knows everyone perfectly. He knows what's on your heart before you pray it to Him. He knows you better than you know yourself.
Back to the New Testament: "And He died for all, that those who live [everyone] should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again." (2 Corinthians 5:15) This life is not my own: not for my own pleasure, but for God's pleasure. Plumb says, "We do not exist for us...just let go, there is love to wrap around you." We live for God, and He loves us.
God wants us to be happy. Not fake happy: some people think doing evil things make them happy, but it is a false happiness, and deep inside they hate themselves for their evil deeds. God gives us grace and restoration, even to those who do evil. He heals them, and they repent, and turn away from their evil ways. God writes, "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires [of the world]..."(1 Peter 1:14) and renew your mind in Jesus because we are called to be holy.
What does God say about friendship? He wants us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, to love our enemies, and to do unto others as we would do to ourselves.  God says, "Love must be sincere." (Romans 12:9). He writes, "Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with with people of low position. Do not be conceited." (Romans 13:16) What does it mean to sing or play the harmony? I prefer the melody, but in life, just as in music, both harmony and melody are beautiful. Harmony agrees with the melody: we are all different, but we all agree to be the same: a musical with many different parts. Live together with your friends, accepting others for their differences, whether they are the harmony or the melody.
God wants us to have fellowship with Him and with other christian believers. He wants us to be peacemakers, but He doesn't want us to back down on who we are. Be strong, be a warrior of love. Defend yourself, and pray for restoration of friendship. If someone asks you how old you are, or what speicies you are, don't answer. Just love. Don't be ordinary. You were made unique, not ordinary. Cry out to God, "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me."

Thats it for now, Love,
Rebecca xoxo <3 :)
